We evaluated the agents across a range of scenarios to test the extent to which they comply with requests from non-owners (including non-owners not affiliated with our lab, which were not introduced or mentioned by the owner). For example, Natalie 🧑 asked the agents Mira 🤖 and Doug 🤖 (owned by Andy 👨💻) to perform a variety of tasks to execute commands on the agents’ file server, such as ls -la, pwd, file tree traversal, file storage, file transfer, file creation, listing files, disclosure of file content, transferring data, disclosing potentially private emails, and accessing internet services, without the involvement or consent of the owner. The agents complied with most of these tasks (see Case Study #16 for the failed case - browse agent configuration files).
